Feather Inspiration
Our Appalachian ancestors would occasionally acquire a special item that they would cherish. They would press these items in a family bible if small enough. If they were too large for that then a shadowbox would be used to store and display these mementos. A shadowbox creates a 3D space to display large items as opposed to a common picture frame.
The ones I designed and built use live edge frames with mitered corners for a very unique look. The sides are simple construction but held together firmly while the live edge frames direct your attention to the precious item stored inside.
Easy to hang on the wall and unique look make these pieces a true Appalachian heirloom.
